Preparation for the Savior

Overview

In this week’s sermon, we explore the miraculous announcement of Jesus’ birth to Mary, a moment that reveals how God uses the ordinary to accomplish the extraordinary. Through Luke 1:26-38, we are reminded that nothing is impossible with God, and He calls us to humbly trust and follow Him.

Big Idea: God comes to the ordinary to do the extraordinary. Nothing is impossible with God. He invites us to trust and follow Him.

Key Points:

  • God came to the ordinary (vs. 26-31)
  • The angel Gabriel visits Mary, a humble young woman, to announce God’s plan. God came to do the extraordinary (vs. 32-35)
  • Jesus is revealed as the Son of the Most High, conceived by the Holy Spirit. Four statements about Jesus (vs. 32-33)
  • His greatness, divine Sonship, eternal reign, and fulfillment of God’s promise. The coming of the Greatest One (vs. 36-38)
  • Mary’s humble response shows her trust in God’s power and plan.
