Scripture: Matthew 6:19–24

Our loyalties are revealed by what we treasure. In this sermon from Jesus’ Sermon on the Mount, we explore Matthew 6:19–24 and Jesus’ warning about the danger of misplaced treasure. What we value most will ultimately shape our desires, direct our decisions, and reveal where our true allegiance lies. Jesus contrasts earthly treasures that fade away with heavenly treasures that last forever. He reminds us that our hearts follow what we treasure and that divided loyalty leads to spiritual blindness and instability. Ultimately, Christ calls His followers to wholehearted devotion, serving one Master rather than attempting to divide their affections between God and the things of this world. Big Idea: Our loyalties are revealed by what we treasure. Divided loyalty corrupts our entire life and prevents us from wholeheartedly serving Christ.
